Manufacture and Supply of Gears

Vettiger Vidler Engineers manufacture and supply a wide variety of gears in case hardened steel and materials such as stainless steel, fibre, nylons, bronzes, high-tensiles, aluminium and many others. Examples of gear types include spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, mitre gears, worm and crown gears. We can also provide heat treatment as required such as case hardening, nitriding and quench and tempering.

Vettiger Vidler Engineers offers cast iron welding, TIG welding of aluminium, stainless steel and high tensile steels, and MIG welding of mild steel and stainless steel.

We also use hot and cold spray powders ranging from soft nickel based powders to very hard stellite/tungsten matrix powders.

Our milling work covers a wide range of gears, key-ways and splines. Digital readouts enable accurate plotting of holes as well as general milling work.

We have a broad range of lathes with capacities up to 1.2 meters diameter (in the gap) and 6 meters long. Supplementing our manual lathes is an Alpha Harrison NC controlled lathe, which is used for complicated profiles and production work. It has a capacity of 400mm diameter x 1500mm between centres.

Vettiger Vidler Engineers provides precision surface grinding services.

• We also have tool post grinding attachments for our lathes, which enables us to carry out internal and external grinding. A grinding attachment for our 5mtr x 1.5mtr planer also allows us to grind up to 5.2 meters in length.

Vettiger Vidler Engineers carry out all manner of repairs and assembly to a wide range of plant and machinery. Dismantling gearboxes, punch and die sets, bearing housing assemblies, fitting of bearings and seals, this represents just a small cross-section of the type of services we can provide.

Vettiger Vidler Engineers has a large capacity planer capable of handling work up to 5.2mtrs in length and 1.5mtrs wide.
